Nowadays at the Academy

Younger children at the academy have been celebrating the holidays recently with lots of crafts and learning materials geared towards Halloween & Remembrance Day. It was been fun seeing their smiles as they partake in hands-on activities that involve learning. It has been a few years since children were able to actively participate in such things and it is such a joy to see children enjoy hands-on learning again.

Children can look forward to completing Christmas activities in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Although these activities are only implemented for our younger clients, not to worry as all our clients will get a Christmas goodie the last session before the holiday break.

As we wait for the go-ahead to reopen our doors, there have been many questions about what tutoring will look like moving forward. We pride ourselves on offering one-on-one services with tutors who are caring, understanding and personal with our clients. However, our new normal will now include face masks, desk spacing and more rules. Things will change, but we are going to do our absolute best to keep things fun and engaging for ALL our clients. We promise to do what it takes to make sure that your children still enjoy coming and that their lessons are still engaging.

A student's Blog Post

Hi, today I’m going to teach you how to draw a manga comic book.
Manga is just basically a japanese graphic novel.
It’s just like a normal comic book except it’s all black&white  and you need to read in backwards (left to right). Most mangas are based on anime.
What you need to do first is make a cover.
You can draw a picture that will draw people’s attention (not in a weird way).
Like this.

Then you need to make a page that shows characters.
Like this.

Then you need to draw a picture and draw some sound effects.
You need to make speech bubbles. But you don’t need to color it.

These tips will help to make a great manga comic book. Please show me your work. I would love to see it.

Personally, my favorite manga is called Fairy Tail. It’s based on wizards.
The reason why I like this manga is because it’s based on anime, so we can watch it on TV. And because the background is Medieval times.
THe main character of the story is called Natsu.
Natsu is a dragon slayer, but tha’ts not because he slays dragons.
He was raised my a fire dragon, and his magics are strong as a dragon.

Summer Day Camps will be running in July and August (Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 3:00pm). These day camps will be a combination of fun activities, outings and learning. The students will participate in experiments, crafts, building exercises as well as many other unique activities. We will have theme weeks, including western, space, world travelers and Canada. During our theme weeks our activities and educational work will focus on those specific topics. In addition to participating in fun activities, students will also be taught lessons in English (grammar, reading, writing and vocabulary), science, geography, French and history. Students will be separated into their grades and levels for all educational lessons.
